Unnecessary tariffs. International industrial espionage. International Rip-Offs. Fraud. International terrorism. Conflicts of family life with tough life on the international road. Yet, the international businessman is enthusiastic about his work and remains a dedicated businessman. Of course, he worries about trouble back at the office, production costs, excess inventory, margins, schedules, finance, people. All of that, and much, much more. But every day, he makes the hard business decisions and choices on the fly that can mean curtains for competitors, or for himself as well. Today's international businessman can best be described as a highly charged individualist, often well served and supported by a fine staff back at the home office -- sometimes he is a one-man band with little or no staff support -- always he is a true decision maker who obviously believes in Free Trade -- a top executive who could very well do with less governmental interference - at home and abroad. But he is no cry-baby. He knows global politics work in many surprising ways to help set the tone, make the rules, and create that certain atmosphere so vital for success in international business.
